Christian’s Need to Stop Being Selective

Christian’s need to stop being selective in which “laws of the land” they will support. An example of this is how, many only support the freedom of religion part of the 1st Amendment. This selective enforcement will only lead to their religious freedoms being stripped.

Not Just Freedom of Religion

The 1st Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Many Christians will fight against anyone who will attempt to prohibit their ability to worship, but say nothing about the stripping of their ability to speak publicly, privately or on social media. What they don’t understand, or they refuse to understand, is that, by allowing for speech to be stifled, they will lose their right to preach or present the Gospel.

If social media outlets are allowed to remove “offensive” content, then sound Gospel preaching will be taken down. Remember, sinners love their sin, and will do and say whatever it takes to keep hold of that sin. Scripture is clear, ”

19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Jn 3:19–21.

The Gospel

Scripture says, “17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ro 10:17.

Again, I ask, if you cannot preach or speak the Gospel, who will hear the words of Christ? Christians must not stay silent on this issue. Yes, people use words to hurt, but restricting anyone’s words means the restriction of all words.

The Coming Storm

Google just admitted that they are actively editing content. Editing content means that they see themselves as PUBLISHERS. If they are making that shift, then they need to have their protections removed.

Christian, if those who provide platforms for expression are editing content, then they will then edit Christian content as well. If we, Christians, only supporting the freedom of religion part of the 1st Amendment, then we will lose our freedom to proclaim the Gospel. It’s time for Christians to stand for freedom of speech.
